OPINION:Ruto should be held accountable for sabotaging Uhuru-Raila unity-ODM official
The current political stand-off in the country where a section of politicians are viciously opposed to the head of State; President Uhuru Kenyatta, over his efforts to Unite the Country and mainstream Development Politics as opposed to 2022 succession politics should be solely be blamed on Deputy President William Ruto.
Confronting the President and trying to sabotage national reconciliation and political harmonization is a clear case of subversion of the Constitution.
Additionally, by the same pro-Ruto political grouping demonizing the President by claiming he is neglecting and impoverishing his ethnic group and sidelining Mt Kenya region in matters development, they are imputing improper motives and creating public hatred towards the government and the President. They are inciting a section of Kenyans against the head of state. Pure hate speech. This is another serious and actionable crime.
The supreme law of the Country demands that the President remains at all times the Symbol of National Unity. The President and his Deputy are the pair that forms the Presidency which carry’s the heavy and mandatory responsibility of Unifying and steadying the Country.
In essence for a core Member of the Presidency (Ruto) to organize his supporters, among them MPs, Senators, governors, MCAs and influential political operatives across the country to destabilize national unification efforts is therefore, a very serious violation of the Constitution.
Deputy President Ruto and his gang of saboteurs should be reminded in no uncertain terms that gross violation of the constitution is sufficient ground for their immediate removal from public office. Agents of disunity and ethnic confrontations are enemies of the constitution and enemies of the people of Kenya.
Right thinking Kenyans support President Uhuru in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), commonly known as the HANDSHAKE, fight against corruption and also the BIG 4 agenda.
The anti BBI group which is also throwing negative aspersions on the development programs rolled out by the President are surprisingly the same who opposed the lifestyle audit of public servants and the wider war against corruption.
They have also come out sabotaging the ongoing crackdown on corrupt senior officials in government and parastatals by tribalizing it and stocking ethnic reactions to arm-twist the government into abandoning the campaign midstream.
For all these transgressions Deputy President Ruto should be called out to account. He should shape up or ship out for the good of the country.
