Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has began discharging his duties as the chief minister.

Matiang'i was elevated last week by President Uhuru Kenyatta who maded him a supervisor of all government projects a role initially done by his deputy William Ruto.

Yesterday Matiang'i chaired his first meeting in his new position as the coordinator of government development programmes.
The meeting was attended by six Cabinet Secretaries and Members of Parliament from Nyanza. It was supposed to review plans for stalled projects as well as new ones in Nyanza.
The CSs present were Simon Chelugui (water), James Macharia (transport), Joe Mucheru (ICT), Mwangi Kiunjuri (Agriculture), Nelson Gachuihie (CAS finance) and Technical and Vocational Training PS Kevit Desai.
