Two Northrift MPs clash in a function
Two Members of Parliament from Northrift region clashed in a
function. The duo clashed over the venue of the event.
Each claimed that the venue was in their territory hence they
demanded to run the programme.
Tiaty MP Kassait Kamket
and his Baringo South counterpart Charles Kamuren claimed Makutani was in their territory.
The function held on Thursday meant to distribute relief food to Internally Displaced
persons was held in Makutani and it was presided over by the Devolution CS
Eugene Wamalwa.
Kamuren was the Master of Ceremony but Kamket demanded that he
runs the programme since the location is in his constituency.
Kamket further protested the choice of master of ceremony
(MC) claiming that he was unqualified to moderate the event based on his
ethnicity.
The Baringo South member took the
stage and told off Kamket over his remarks.
Kamuren further told Kamket to take
up the matter of boundaries with IEBC.
Governor Stanley Kiptis attempted to
mediate between the two MPs but they did not relent.
The meeting was, therefore, ended
prematurely despite the CS's aim to distribute iron sheets and reopen some
schools that had been closed in the region.
