How a plan to tame Ruto's influence in government failed
Deputy President William Ruto has maintained his resilience in government despite numerous attempts to tame his influence.
Ruto has gone full swing for his 2022 bid contrary to President Uhuru Kenyatta's call on politicians to tone down on politics and focus on development.
But Ruto has remained defiant as he traverses the country for different functions demed to further his political agenda.

This has led to attempt to reduce his influence in government thus reducing his political muscle.
This includes appointment of Interior CS Fred Matiang'i as the chief minister taskedwith overseeing all the government projects.
It was arrived at as an attempt to tame Ruto from his countrywide visits launching several projects.
The issue triggered a debate on how Uhuru is quietly telling his depty that he no longer banks on him to advance his development agenda.
However the powerful docket handed over to Matiang'iw failed to bore fruits in terms I overpowering Ruto.
The handshake between Uhuru and Raila Odinga saw Ruto left out in the deal.Though he revealed that Raila approached him four times for conciliatory talks, current unfoldings has proved Ruto is the target.
This has made Uhuru work closely with Raila a move that has seen Ruto sidelined in crucial government matters despite being president's principal assistant.
Ruto has in many occasions said that Uhuru is genuine about handshake but Raila want to use it to force him out of government.
The fight against corruption has in many instances directed towards a single person.
Many politicians especially those opposed to Ruto have been directing the fight to the DP.
