How to avoid paying KRA fine for late filing of returns
It is that season that you are required to file your tax returns in Kenya.The exercise is done before June 30th of every year.
Everybody with KRA PIN is required to file the tax returns.Late filing will attract a penalty of Sh20,000 required to be paid within 30 days from the date you are filing your late returns failure to which it will accrue interests.
Even if you are not employed and provided that you have KRA PIN, you are required to file the returns.
In order to avoid paying the penalty, you are required to file Nil Returns if you fall under the category allowed to file Nil returns.They included unemployed, those paid by wages and students.
here is the procedure of filing Nil Returns.
Access the KRA Itax Login portal here https://itax.kra.go.ke/KRA- Portal.
Log in using your PIN and Password.
Once on the dashboard, click on the Returns tab and select File Nil Returns option.
New windon for Nil e-Return will open.Select the Tax Obligation option.Then click next and you will be done.
