This is how Raila's tricks will make Ruto president in 2022
Political analyst Ambrose Weda now says that a union of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga will not stop Deputy President William Ruto's presidency in the 2022 general elections.
The two leaders have remained together since their truce in early 2018, a union that, however, seems to be isolating the DP, with pundits observing that the closeness might give rise to an alliance ahead of the polls.
But Weda now says that Ruto must have realized this, and must be using his time to prepare a weapon that will help him crush a union of the two, should they decide to form a coalition or a partnership for the much-awaited polls.
He termed this the possible reason behind Ruto's continued politicking, despite Uhuru's warnings, observing that the DP must have predicted that the president will dump him with time, and no longer needs to listen to him.
"Ruto has made up his mind, he doesn't give a hoot what Uhuru thinks. He is ready to take them both, Uhuru and Raila, he has given up on the president," he said on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation show, Wednesday morning.
Ironically, he opined that Ruto is resorting to a tact he learnt from Raila when he was in ODM, and will be using Raila's forceful mode of politicking to beat him should they face off come 2022.
Weda observed that just like Raila forced his way into the government through the Prime Ministerial seat after his controversial loss to retired president Mwai Kibaki in 2007, Ruto is similarly forcing his way to statehouse.
"That's what he learns from Tinga (Raila). In 2007 they beat Kibaki, if there was no abracadabra (sic) they would have removed him, then they had the read shared)," he said.
Ruto has defied both Raila and Uhuru's calls to shelve 2022 debate, and though he has not been personally politicking, his allies have been doing it, at times in his presence, with the DP not making any attempts to stop them.-Hivisasa
