Two Northrift MPs clash in a function

Two Northrift legislators clashed in a function on Friday over the government's treatment of maize farmers.

It started when Moiben MP Silas Tiren accused the politicians of politicking instead of dwelling on development issues aimed at improving livelihoods.

This happened during a burial ceremony of the late John Kinyor, a brother to Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago.

The leaders at the event had centered their talks on 2022 politics.

But when Tiren stood to talk, he complained on leader's deliberate move to skip shading light on maize and milk prices affecting farmers in the region.

"It is very shaming that everybody is talking of politics while our farmers are languishing.See the milk and maize prices are dropping and no one is intervening,"Tiren said.

"I will not be threatened but I will continue saying the truth.We have lost direction as leaders on important issues affecting common Malachi,"He added.

But Soy MP Caleb Kositany literally breathing fire bashed Tiren saying he has failed in his mandate as a legislator.

He said the issues Tiren was raising ought to be tabled in parliament and not politicking.

"I wonder how you can cheat electorate about maize prices yet you have the opportunity as a legislator to table in parliament.Wachana na huo upuzi.When we were discussing the budgetary allocation in parliament you were  busy in demonstrations.What kind of a leader are you.Stop telling lies to the electorate yet you know whose agenda you are propagating,"He added.

Kapseret MP Osca Sudi accused Tiren, Joshua Kutuny (Cherangany) and Nandi Hills Alfred Keter of working with some forces in government to have maize prices reduced and abolishing of subsidized fertilizer.

He said this was meant to create a rebellion against DP William Ruto in Rift valley because of the maize prices and fertilizer.

"That scheme will not work.We are aware of it.We all voted for president Uhuru Kenyatta and we deserve better services and treatment to our farmers.So stop blaming Ruto,"Sudi said.
