Hellen Obiri of Kenya clinched victory in the 52nd edition of the New York City Marathon today.
She secures the victory in a time of 2:27:23 in the women's open division.
In a closely contested race, Obiri surged ahead at the 400-meter mark to claim the gold medal.
Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia packed second with a time of 2:27:29, while another Kenyan, Sharon Lokedi, crossed the finish line in third place at 2:27:33.Sharon was the defending champion.
This marks Obiri's second marathon win in her third career marathon, following her earlier triumph in Boston this year.
