Rigathi Gachagua's new message after impeachment
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has spoken
after the National Assembly impeached him on Tuesday night.
In posts he shared on his social media
pages, Gachagua said it shall be well as he quotes Bible verses from 1st
Thessalonians and Jeremiah.
"1 Thessalonians 5:18: Give
thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ
Jesus."
"Jeremiah 30:19: From them will come songs of
thanksgiving and the sound of rejoicing. I will add to their numbers, and they
will not be decreased; I will bring them honor, and they will not be disdained.
It is well," Gachagua said on X.
The Deputy President was on Tuesday impeached by the
National Assembly where 281 MPs voted in favour of the ouster motion against 44
who voted to save his young political career.
Kibwezi Mp Mwengi Mutuse tabled the motion to impeach the DP
citing 11 grounds.
The accusations include gross violation of the constitution,
undermining the President, undermining devolution, irregular acquisition of
wealth, publicly attacking a judge, intimidating acting Kemsa CEO, promoting
ethnicity and insubordination to the President among other charges.
Only 233 MPs were needed to support the motion for Gachagua
to stand impeached and 291 appended their signatures supporting the impeachment
motion.
