DP Ruto's on crop diversification as he hosts leaders from Trans Nzoia snd Uasin Gishu

Deputy President Dr. William Ruto  has urged farmers to diversify and use mordern farming technology.

He says this will help to reduce the cost of production and increase profits.

"The use of modern farming methods, including value addition, agro processing and crop diversification are key to revamping the agricultural sector and ensuring farmers derive maximum earnings,"said the deputy president.

He spoke after hosting  leaders from Trans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu counties in his home Sugoi Turbo constituency on Saturday.

He noted that farmers should move from planting traditional crops but instead diversify for higher yields and regular income compared to maize and wheat.

"Leaders should educate farmers on investing in market-oriented, high value crops that have a larger potential for returns and will enable food and nutrition security,"added the Jubilee Party deputy leader.
