Religious leaders hit out at Northrift politicians
Religious leaders in Uasin Gishu have hit out at politicians saying that the fight against corruption is targeting any tribe.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Saturday , led by Uasin Gishu CIPK chairman Abubakar Bini and Bishop Thomas Kogo of Anglican Church they said those involved in corruption should carry their own cross and should not use their tribes as scapegoats.
“There is no tribe that is a thief and there is no tribe that steals the one who steals is an individual. Politicians should not use their tribes to hide those involved in corruption.” said the Uasin Gishu CIPK Chairman.
“A thief is a thief and should be mentioned since he or she has his or her own name and not his or her tribe and should carry his or her own cross,” added Bishop Thomas Kogo of Eldoret Anglican.
They, however, condemned the utterances by North Rift leaders led by Nandi senator Kiprotich Cheragei saying they are creating enmity between tribes implicating that their tribes are being targeted in the fight against corruption.
They noted that if we go this way corruption and tribalism will never be fought in our country.
