New museum as Eldoret gets city status

Uasin Gishu County is poised to make a significant cultural stride as it prepares to build a new museum in Eldoret, a move that coincides with the town's upcoming transition to city status.

Spearheaded by the Chief Officer for Culture, Eunice Suter, the county is collaborating with the national government to realize this ambitious project right within the heart of Eldoret.

The establishment of this museum holds profound significance for the evolving city. It signifies a concerted effort to preserve and showcase the rich tapestry of cultural heritage that has thrived within Uasin Gishu County. 

As Eldoret transitions into a city, the museum will serve as a custodian of the region's diverse cultural practices, allowing residents and visitors to delve into the multifaceted history and traditions that have shaped the community.

 This cultural repository will not only celebrate the past but also contribute to building a vibrant and inclusive urban identity for Eldoret.

The museum will play an essential role in documenting and displaying the remarkable athletic artifacts associated with the region. Uasin Gishu County is renowned for producing world-class athletes as well as hosting several athletes  including legends like Eliud Kipchoge, and as the region undergoes transformation, it is crucial to acknowledge and commemorate this legacy
