Nandi healthcare workers call off strike
Nandi County healthcare workers strike have been called by their unions following the signing of an agreement on return to work formula.
Governor Stephen Sang, county officials were held up in a deliberation meeting with the union officials to unlock the stalemate.
"Today, we successfully reached a Return to Work agreement with healthcare workers in our county, with the unions agreeing to call off the strike and resume duties immediately."Stephen sang said.
According to the Governor, they reached an agreement on the implementation timelines.
"The strike, which lasted for three days, was swiftly addressed through conclusive deliberations on all issues raised by the healthcare workers, and we have agreed on clear implementation timelines."He said.
The issues raised included staff promotions, delay in remittance of the third party deductions, revocation letters.
"As part of our ongoing development agenda, we continue to strengthen the health sector. Since the inception of this administration, we have promoted several staff members, recruited additional personnel, and remain committed to ensuring efficient service delivery across all our health facilities."He added.
The meeting involved key stakeholders, including representatives from the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers, Kenya National Union of Nurses, Kenya National Union of Medical Laboratory Officers, Kenya National Union of Pharmaceutical Technologists, Kenya National Union of Nutritionists and Dietitians, and the Kenya Environmental Health and Public Health Practitioners Union.
