Some of the MPs who had supported the motion to impeach the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have withdrawn their support.
Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse had on Tuesday afternoon tabled the motion, presenting 11 grounds to impeach the DP.
They include gross violation of the Constitution, gross misconduct, bullying, corruption, undermining the presidency among others.
The 291 MPs in support of the motion surpassed the threshold of 117 members required to table the motion.
However some MPs from Mt. Kenya have rescinded their decision on supporting the motion aimed at ousting him.
The MPs who initially backed Gachagua's impeachment motion but later reversed their stance are Tetu MP Geoffrey Wandetu, Nyeri MP Rahab Mukami, and Kieni MP Njoroge Wainaina.
They said they have consulted with their respective constituents who have advised them not to support the impeachment.
The legislators said some of the grounds tabled can be addressed without impeaching the DP.
According to them, the DP can solve their differences with the president in order to move the country forward.
