Nandi County has received a set of equipment for the upcoming Audiology centre in Kapsabet.
The equipment have been donated by the Children's Speech and Hearing Loss Organization in partnership with the County Government of Nandi.
Governor Stephen Sang said they are setting up an Audiology centre in order to provide comprehensive hearing services.
"In order to provide comprehensive hearing loss screening and testing services through early diagnosis and prevention, we are setting up an Audiology facility at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital." Sang said.
"We have today received a set of audiology equipment that includes the ABR machine, Tympanometer, Audiometer, Visual Reinforcement Audiometry and OAE."He added.
These state-of-the-art instruments are invaluable assets for healthcare facilities aimed at improving auditory health.
Stephen Kittur who is the National Coordinator for Children's Speech and Hearing Loss Organization said the ABR machine, or Auditory Brainstem Response machine, is a sophisticated tool used to diagnose hearing impairments in individuals, especially infants and young children. It aids in the early detection of hearing issues, enabling timely intervention and treatment.
Kapsabet County Referral Hospital will be among the very few public health facilities including Kenyatta National Hospital to offer comprehensive hearing health services.
"Through the generous donation of these audiology instruments, the community gains access to improved hearing healthcare services."Sang added.
Early detection, accurate diagnoses, and personalized treatment plans become more accessible, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for those with hearing difficulties.
